If you’re in need of a quick outfit pick-me-up try simple midi rings. Stack them atop various gold rings for added interest. Or play it up by adding contrast with metallic silver nails! In an instant you’ll find you’ve added a chic edge to anything you’re wearing!
I’ve recently tried various name-brand liquid sand nail polish and didn’t get the hype. Well, I came across Forever 21’s brand today while at work and thought I’d give their unique shades a try. Definitely a smart buy! The Love & Beauty brand’s “Sand Lacquer” really delivers. It leaves a perfect sand texture on your nails while keeping the glitter and sparkle in tact; and, the gold shade is very flattering on all skin tones! It’s a very pretty manicure that takes less than 5 minutes and costs $3. I suggest you give it a try!
A fun way to accessorize any outfit as quickly as possible is through statement jewelry; One or two pieces that speak for themselves, as well as the entire outfit. Rings aren’t typically the first accessory we picture when thinking of statement jewelry. However, they can play up any other accessory. A simple gold charm necklace stands
out even more with a chunky bauble ring.
Above are my recent purchases. I stumbled upon this fun crystal piece, which really adds a fun twist to whatever I’m wearing, at Forever 21
for only 6$! Same with the set of dainty gold knuckle rings. Only $5 at Forever 21, these little guys draw attention instantly! And as a bonus, they make your mani look fabulous!
I love wearing a nice, classy, J.crew-esque outfit! Here I paired a gemstone clad sweatshirt with boyfriend fit chinos. I added a sequined collar dickey (not shown) and gemstone flats to add more feminine flair! Super comfy and chic.

A huge trend we are going to be seeing hit stores this spring/summer is lucite accents. The best way to incorporate this trend in everyday outfits is through accessories. Rocking a full vinyl skirt or jacket might be a little too over the top for most people so try jewelry, purses or shoes first!
Clear bracelets detailed with gemstones are a great way to modernize a sleek ensemble. Same with clear cuffs and chunky rings. The bracelets above are also mixed with antique gold metals, tying in the Art Deco trend that is popular.
Lucite footwear is another way to wear this fun fad. Clear details like the ankle straps, embellishments or heels can really update and transform your look. The heels above from Forever 21 feature black pleather ankle straps along with a clear plastic foot strap, accompanied by the chunky lucite heel. The black pleather keeps the overall shoe balanced. Too much lucite will send the wrong message and could be mistaken for a different kind of footwear, if you know what I mean!
As long as you keep it basic and sleek, you can’t go wrong with clear accessories. A little goes a long way and with this trend it’s safe to say less is more!
Today I decided to channel my inner Lana Del Rey with a retro inspired outfit for work. I went with floral leggings, a chartreuse crew neck sweater, basic black ballet flats, and topped it off with a floral headband and cat eye sunglasses and eyeliner. Very simple and basic, yet classic and chic. You can also take it a step further with red lips and stiletto nails for a non-work look!
I am always looking to save money, especially with my horrible shopping obsessions. So, I am a regular Plato’s Closet recycler. It’s such a smart way to make money AND save money. If you haven’t ever been to Plato’s Closet, they are a retail store that recycles fashion for both guys and girls! Meaning, they buy your old clothes and accessories off of you for instant cash! They then sell these clothes for low prices that are affordable for any budget. So, here’s how you get started:
Step 1: Go through your closet and pick out anything you haven’t worn in the past 6 months to 1 year. Make sure everything is in decent quality and has no stains.
Step 2: Go through your accessories and pick out anything you haven’t used in the past 6 months to 1 year. This means all jewelry (earrings must be on its original hang tag) belts, scarves, purses, and shoes.
Step 3: Fold everything neatly in a large tote bag or shopping bag.
Step 4: Take to your nearest Plato’s Closet and get cash for your clothes and accessories on the spot!
I’ve found that they’re a little picky when it comes to shoes and dresses. However, I typically get around $20-$30 whenever I go there. I also frequently go there for quick events, like holidays, to pick up a quick dress for under $10 instead of spending $30 at the mall for something I’ll only wear once! And usually, they’ll buy it back after you’ve gotten your use out of it!
Plato’s Closet is also a great place to go shopping for quick trends you know won’t be in style for long or for anything in general! They carry tons of Forever 21, Hollister, American Eagle, Abercrombie, Juicy Couture, Charlotte Russe, and brands from Urban Outfitters. Dresses and skirts typically run $6-$10 dollars and shirts and tank tops $6-$12 depending on brand and style. Shoes are around $10-$20, same with jeans, leggings, and sweaters/blazers/sweatshirts. It’s a place that anyone can bargain shop and I promise you’ll find some great steals! If you haven’t been there yet, I definitely recommend you try it out!
