Here’s a simple mani that’s quick and easy! All you need is a nail dotter (or a bobby pin or something with a round end) cling wrap, and multiple nail polish colors! Check out Juleps awesome variety here.

On the cling wrap place a dab of each color you’re using. Start with a bright color and dot randomly on your nails. Repeat with all your colors, alternating your neutrals with your brights. Be sure to cover the tips of your nails. Then, take a glitter polish and dot over one of your bright colors. Finish with a top coat and voila!

Nail art is so much fun, and there is a lot of designs you can easily do yourself at home. Skip the salon and check out my latest manicures!

Try using metallic Sharpies to make dainty patterns or prints. Just draw directly onto a painted, dry nail and cover with a clear coat! Caviar beads are also a quick fix to fill that nail trend crave. Just mix multiple colors into a bowl and sprinkle on top of a clear coat or nail glue coat. You can buy your own at Joann Fabrics, PacSun, The Dollar Tree, or Claire’s. Confetti nails are one of my personal favorites because there are so many ways to sparkle your nails! Do just the tips, half moons, or the whole nail! Or stay classic with the French manicure. Change them up with metallic finishes or angled tips! It’s a great illusion to make short nails look longer too!

If you’re bored with your manicure, bling it up with a trendy nail ring! It instantly adds glam to your nails without a trip to the nail salon! This one is from Claire’s and was only $5.50. They can be difficult to keep on if you’re doing something hands on, but they’re great for a night out or shopping trip! If you’re a fashion addict, this is definitely a fun accessory to have in your jewelry box!

The Foolproof Ombré Mani

20121030-235519.jpg

I have tried countless times to do the infamous ombré manicure and have failed horribly. Until today. After reading so many tutorials on using a damp makeup sponge, and layering color upon color at once, I figured something wasn’t right: the moisture level!

Here’s what you’ll need: a clear coat, 3 nail polish colors and one makeup sponge.

1) Start with your base cost. After it dries, choose one of three colors and paint both hands. LET IT DRY COMPLETELY!

2) After, choose your second color and paint a small section of one side of your DRY makeup sponge. Dab the sponge halfway down each of your nails. It’s okay if it’s a little messy.

3) Repeat step 2 with your third color, dabbing onto the tip of your nails. Let the colors set.

4) Now step 4 is very important because it will blend your ombré manicure. If you did steps 1-3 correctly, your nails will look like very bright, blunt stripes. Take your makeup sponge and rip it in half, creating a textured edge! Simply repeat steps 2 and 3 but using the bumpy, textured side of the sponge. This should make your mani look like a continuous gradient.

5) Finish it off with a clear top coat, and make sure to leave plenty of dry time!

Beauty Review: Claire’s Nail Stickers

20120923-204828.jpg

So I recently picked up some cool nail stickers at Claire’s for 1$ (on clearance) and I finally got the chance to try them out! I have to say I’m disappointed in the quality, however I can’t stay I didn’t expect it. Sally Hansen still offers the best nail stickers by far, but these Claires stickers do offer a better variety of fun accents like rhinestones and ombré! The problem is the stick of them, meaning there is almost none! The edges are also difficult to trim off and they leave a rough lip that attracts lint and fur. They lasted one day in total, which is obviously a bust. I do have to say that they would be great for a one day event like a prom, party, or wedding! Next time I find them on sale again, I’d like to try them out as accent strips by trimming them up and applying a topcoat! So, maybe give them a try and send your feedback!
